ABSTRACT:

Abnormal sexual behaviour. (Ed. Tkatchenko A. A.) - Moscow: Serbsky Nat. Res. Centre for Social and Forensic Psychiatry, 1997.- 426 pp. Ó Tkatchenko A. A. & all., 1997.

Presented are the results of the interdisciplinary study of abnormal sexual behaviour, first of all - paraphilias. Given are the results of clinico-psychopathological and psychological findings as well as of neurophysiological and neurochemical examinations of persons with different forms of sexual inclination pathology - exhibitionism, pedophilia, sadism etc. The materials presented give an opportunity to elaborate pathogenetic and regulative models of paraphilic behaviour, to develop expert criteria and therapeutic programs. For psychiatrists, sexologists, psychologists, criminologists and law-enforcement agency personnel.

ANNOTATION:

CHAPTER 1

THE BORDERS OF SEXUAL NORMALITY AND CONTEMPORARY CLASSIFICATIONS OF PSYCHOSEXUAL ORIENTATION DISORDERS

Described is the historical transformation of approaches to the typology of abnormal sexual behaviour. Demonstrated is the altaration of ideas about the genesis of paraphilias within the framework of different tendencies (clinical, psychoanalitical). Presented are endeavours to introduce the criteria of "normal"and "pathological"with respect to the sexual behaviour. Proposed is the original definition of normal sexual behaviour. Analyzed are present-day classifications of psychosexual disorders (DSM-IV, ICD-10) with the evaluation of merits and demerits of modern taxonomias.

 CHAPTER 2

PHENOMENOLOGY AND PSYCHOPATHOLOGY OF PARAPHILIC BEHAVIOUR

Presented is the systematic description of clinical manifestations of the abnormal sexual behaviour, basing on the subdivision of phenomena into objective, subjective and psychopathological. Grounded is the introduction of new clinico-psychological terms describing paraphilia signs not distinguished previously. Put forward is the original scheme of the correlation of paraphiliac behaviour principal phenomena (subject-object-activity). Specially analyzed are first specified predisposing psychopathological states, reflecting the peculiarities of mental disontogenesis of persons with paraphilias.

 CHAPTER 3

SEXUAL DISONTHOGENESIS AND GENDER IDENTITY DISORDERS IN PERSONS WITH ABNORMAL SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR

Analyse layered model an determination sang and normative beliefs about sexual ontogenesis in aspects: morpho-, etho- and psychogenesis. Consider phenomenology and psychopathology of three types of sexual disontogenesis : delays, premature sexual of development and disharmonies. Described manifestations of breaking a sexual development in the plan a morpho-, etho - and psychodisontogenesis. Analyse relationship of types sexual disontogenesis and particularities of clinical picture of paraphyilias. Discuss notion "gender identity", its types. Discuss role of identification as a mechanism of building identity , described pathology of this mechanism. Analysed conditions of gender identity: social, neurophysiological, psychological. Present phenomenological variants of disorder gender identity with children, particularities of these variants at adults. Described pathological unconsciouness variant of disorder of gender identity with persons with the anomalous sexual behaviour: definition, predispositional factors, phenomenology, psychopathology and sexopathology.

 CHAPTER 4

PSYCHOLOGICAL PEGULIARITIES OF PARAPHILIC PERSONS

Analized in details are the problems of object ans subject of psychological examination of individuals with anomalous sexual behaviour. Argued is the priority to study sex identity in paraphiliac studies. Presented are the results of psychological examinations of individuals with different variants of paraphilias: exhibitionism, pedophilia, sadism, necrophilia, with revialing a degree of masculinity/femininity expressiveness, identification peculiarities and emotional perception of an object of sexual druve, characteristics of the motivational-affective sphere. The discovered significant differences allow to put forward some conceptual ideas about psychological mechanisms of the formation and realization of abnormal sexual behaviour both in the group of individuals with paraphilias in general and in their different variants.

 CHAPTER 5

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL PECULIARITIES OF PERSONS WITH DEVIANT SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR

The chapter is devoted to the description of peculiarities brain organization of mental processes and urgent condition of functional systems of a brain at persons with abnormal sexual behaviour. Data on contribution of various structures of a head brain to realization of sexual behaviour on material of local defeats of a brain, representation about peculiarities general of activity of a brain at persons with frustration of inclinations are considered. Special place is stamped to comparison of phenomena at paraphilia-suffered men with clinic of various defeats. Results of complex research under traditional circuit by Luria of the persons with abnormal sexual behaviour, together with their interpretation according to concept of system dynamic localization of functions are resulted (brought). Results of definition (determination) of an individual structure of functional asymmetry are stated.

 CHAPTER 6

NEUROPHISIOLOGIC MECHANISMS OF ABNORMAL SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR

Description of neurophisiological gears of abnormal sex behaviour. In first part of the given chapter is contained the literary review of modern data and representations about structurally functional basis of emotions and motivations, of sexual inclination and behaviour of the person. In second part bring main results lead by the authors is computer aided of EEG inspection of men with organic defeats of brain and with abnormal sexual behaviour. The significant attention is given to the analysis of communication revealed neurophisiological patterns with ontogenetics infringements, neuropsychological syndromes and peculiarities of features of the person and form of sexual frustration. In conclusion, the authors offer original concept of neurophisiological gears abnormal sex behaviour.

 CHAPTER 7

STATES OF MONOAMIN SYSTEM IN PARAPHILIAS

In chapter a role neuromediators, in particular, monoamines, in work of a head brain is discussed. Proceeding from numerous literary data and results of own researches, describing an a role íåéðîìåäèàòîðíûõ of systems in realization of functions CNS in norm and in patology, in particular - during sexual differenciation of a brain. The authors offer a number of the pathogenetic concepts, revealling the gear of development of paraphilias. The own data resultedin the chapter differ by high statistical reliability at the expense of plenty of the surveyed persons, that has allowed not only to ascertain characteristic for persons with paraphilias of peculiarity of a monoamine exchange, but also to reveal thin distinctions inside group of the persons with paraphilias that has formed the basis for development of the pathogenetic concepts. During work dependence of a number of elements of abnormal sexual behaviour on parameters of the neurochemical status is marked.

 CHAPTER 8

PATHOGENETIC MODELS OF PARAPHILIAS

The endeavour was made to generalize findings of the interdisciplinary study of abnormal sexual behaviour given in the book. Analized are disontogenetic grounds for the formation of diviations of psychosexual orientations, role of self-consciousness disturbances and deprivation, fixation mechanisms. Given are different models of paraphiliac behaviour (play behaviour, ethological analogs) on whose basis the original concept of philo/ontogenetic regress as the principal pathogenetic mechanism of paraphilias is built. Discussed are the problems of regulation of the abnormal behaviour at psychopatological and psychological levels of the classification.

 CONCLUSION

The book comprises figures, clinical examples, illustrating its principal positions.
